Week 44: Exchanges, Game Night, and lots of Miracles!

Hoi Iedereen!

This week was full of great things! I got to do two exchanges this week, one of which was in Leiden! They were both amazing and full of miracles! Leiden is such a cute, old city with tons of students. I would love to serve there some day. Sadly, we said goodbye to Zr. Wahlquist and Zr. Smith this week. They are now serving in Almere. We miss our 4 man so much!
Here are some wonderen and grapjes for the week! (I’ve just realized I’ve been spelling grapjes wrong for the last 10 months lol)
.While I was on exchanges with Zr. Smith here in Zoetermeer, our investigator Tonny randomly let us in when we stopped by (She’s usually not home)! We were able to talk to her a bit and set up another appointment for next week! Her only concern seems to be tithing. But I think if we can help her resolve that she’ll be golden!
.We had interviews with the Bunnells this week, which is always fantastic! I always feel great after talking to them!
.In Leiden we saw miracle after miracle after miracle! We talked to so many people on the street who gave us their numbers and wanted to make an appointment! We also met with a family from Ghana that night, who was SUPER POSITIVE! The husband was asking “How can I know what church is true?” That’s our favorite question to answer! Sadly, they didn’t have a lot of time, so the sisters are going back this week to answer that question. I’m so excited for them and can’t wait to hear how it goes! The Spirit was so strong in that first lesson. They are ready!
.We had a fun game night in Den Haag on Saturday! The purpose of these game nights is to get members to invite their non-member friends. It was a success! [Our new member] invited her mom and her best friend! She is an amazing missionary!!! Plus, she’s going to go on a mini mission this summer!!!!
.We’ve just had a lot of great, random encounters with people on the street this week!
. “One of the referals lives on the tram.” Lol, my brain was so fried at the end of the day that I didn’t really know what I was saying anymore 🙂 Zr. Weber got some laughs out of it though 🙂
.Me trying to ride Zr. Wray’s bike on exchanges lol. She is a lot taller than me, so I was on my tippy toes riding that bike!
.We actually had time to knock some doors this week, and it was actually pretty fun! I haven’t done it in a while, so it was a fun change of pace 🙂
I love you all so much! I hope you have an amazing week full of miracles!

Week 43: Temple, Keukenhof, Uchtdorf, and Mummies!

Hey Everyone!
I don’t have too much time, so here are pictures and a quick summary of my week!
.Me and Zr. Weber won ‘most clean apartment’ for our zone, so now we have cute, dutch matching aprons! Lol our apartment was a disaster this week #4manstruggle
.Keukenhof! The land of the tulips!!! It was a great Zone Conference!
.I also got to pet a baby goat at Keukenhof! So cute!!!
.I went and saw mummies today in Leiden for zone P-day. It was legit!
.We went to the temple this week with [our new member] to do baptisms for the first time! It was such a powerful experience for her and the Spirit was SO STRONG there! She loved it! I also found some more dutch family names that I was able to do as well! I love family history and especially doing the work for my dutch ancestors in the dutch temple!
.We all got cute rain coats today at the Primark. Man, that place is dangerous for zr. missionaries lol 🙂
Wonder for the week:
.I don’t have a picture of this, but here’s a quick run down of what happened when President Uchtdorf came this week! Oh man, so President Uchtdorf. It was the most amazing night of my mission. Seriously!! We got there at 4:30pm to save our seats in the chapel (there ended up being 600 plus people and people in overflow rooms watching a broadcast!). It didn’t start until 7pm, so we helped Daniela with her family history while we waited. We had a thought while we were sitting there to invite our investigator, [name withheld], from the Wassenaar ward. We called her up and she came! Then, at the end of President Uchtdorf’s talk he opened it up for questions. She leaned over to me and asked “can i ask a question?” Uhhhh, YES! I was a little nervous though, because I know she likes to bring up controversal things. Haha, and she sure didn’t let me down! She stood up and is said “First of all, I’m not mormon, but these two nice missionaries Sister Mangum and Sister Weber invited me tonight. I’m so glad I came!” Okay, that part was awesome! We just got named dropped to President Uchtdorf!!!! But then she went on to talk about homosexuality and how she thinks its ‘disgusting’ and doesn’t know how to treat those people. She worded it in a very not respectful way, but President Uchtorf was AMAZING!!!! He totally wasn’t even phased when he responded. He said “We need more people like you who stand up for what we believe!” He also said “First of all, welcome to the church! Come back. Come often. And listen two these two missionaries (and POINTED to us!!!) because they will teach you the truth!” OH MY GOSH! I was slightly mortified by her question, but totally is shock with how he responded! He pretty much invited her to be baptized lol! We called her later and she said she LOVED President Uchtdorf! We have a lesson with her on Tuesday, so wish us luck! The Wassenaar ward was sooo excited for her! We are as well! It was such a powerful evening for her and can really be a turning point. We don’t know for sure yet, but we’ll see on Tuesday 🙂
.Also, [our new member] finished reading the book of mormon this week! Wahooo!!!

I love you all so much! I hope your week is full of miracles!!!

Week 42: I love my family, MLC, and un-birthday parties

Hey Everyone!
Wasn’t conference just great last week? I absolutely LOVE getting to hear from the general authorities and our prophet! I feel like this last conference was just packed with all sorts of good stuff!
Lets see, this week we got to go to a ‘secret leadership meeting’ called MLC. It was actually a ton of fun and I learned so much! It was also cool because President decided to implement one of the counsel items me and Zr. Weber brought up! There are these cool stickers missionaries have been using in Tilburg that say “I (heart emoji) my family” and the mormon.nl website. They are a really easy way to contact people (almost everyone will talk about their family), plus stickers are just huge in nederland 🙂 President is going to try and get a bunch made so all the missionaries can use them! We are super excited to get our hands on more of these stickers!
Here’s a funny quote from MLC:
“President, people would literally be drowning themselves in the baptismal font!” -Zr. Mercer when they suggested an ‘all sisters zone’ in Belgium lol.
This week we also celebrated Zr. Smith’s Unbirthday! We are worried that they won’t be with us on her actual birthday, so we surprised them on Friday with cupcakes, presents, decorations, and chocolate face masks 🙂 Haha, I’ll have to send pictures of the face masks next week (they are on Zr. Wahlquists camera 🙂 It was a fun way to de-stress that night 🙂
Well, other than that not much happened this week! The weather was beautiful! We’re getting to the point where we don’t have to wear tights and coats! I’m ready for this spring weather 🙂
I’m so grateful for the chance I have to serve here! I know without a doubt that the gospel is true and that it truly can change your life. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that He and Heavenly Father love us more than we can comprehend!
I love you all so much!

Here’s a link to a video the youth in the Wassenaar ward made! They recreated the youth Ask video, and I think they did a pretty good job!  https://youtu.be/jg_NoBHwrSg

.Baklava! It’s a delicious turkish food me and Zr. Dixon ate on exchanges!
.Just another day on the farm. Wouter let us let all the cows into the field!

Week 41: 10 months!

Hey Everyone!

Wow, this week I hit my 10 month mark! I can’t believe I’ve been out so long! The time is going by waaaay too fast! I never want it to end!
This last Wednesday we did another missionary activity with the Wassenaar Youth. All of us missionaries went in class rooms, and they came LDD (door to door) to us! It was soooo funny to be on the other side of things! Haha, I felt really mean telling them to go away, but eventually I did let them in 🙂 It was so fun to watch them teach me about the book of mormon and bear their testimonies to me. It was very inciteful to be on the other end of things! I think I learned more than they did!
This week we had zone training with the new Easter initative! It’s #Princeofpeace, so if you haven’t watched it yet, do it!!!
General Conference was great! I haven’t seen the Sunday Afternoon session yet (it aired at 10pm live here), but what I did see was amazing! I feel like I received so many answers to questions I didn’t even know I had! We were able to watch it with Daniela and Sabrina Saturday Night (SaturdayMorning session), which was really cool. It felt like there were a lot of talks about the Plan of Salvation, which is something were good to hear 🙂 My favorite talk was by M. Russell Ballard about goals! It’s really motivated me to review my life goals again and make better plans to reach them! I love conference and the opportunity it is to receive answers to our prayers!
I hope you all have an amazing week!

.Another farm picture
.Laying in the flowers! Spring is here!!!
.We got ice cream with our recent convert Chloe! Apparently this little ice cream shop in Wassenaar (Lucianos) is the best in Nederland! They had Tony Chocolony flavor, which was amazing!!
. Here’s a picture of a swan that lives by the church. It’s building a nest! We are soo excited for the eggs to hatch and see little “ugly ducklings!”
.A picture of me by the emergency room enterance to the hospital! Haha, the ironic thing about this picture is that later that night Zr. Smith had to go to the ER here! She is okay and was able to come home that night. She just passed out and is okay 🙂 Although, we were prepared for her to stay the night! I packed a whole backpack full of things to keep her entertained if she would be there for a while. Haha, I threw in a dutch fairytale book, because man, the dutch book of mormon is good, but after like 5 hours you need something else to read (I speak from experience :))))
More pictures!

I also made homemade pizza this week! Also, the Bunnells brought me ‘get well’ flowers too!
